Ken Tiessen is a realist/impressionist artist who enjoys capturing beauty and character in both landscape and portraiture. He paints in the Plein Air tradition outdoors in the Midwest and also travels each Summer to Colorado, Wyoming, and California.
He has been a professional full-time artist since graduation from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with Honors, and is now creating fine art after a successful career in illustration.
He has taken workshops and studied with Dan McCaw and Richard Schmid, and is inspired by the work of John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, and N.C. Wyeth, the famous illustrator and father of Andrew Wyeth.
